01 — The Brief

A pro-bono housing study proposing dignified, economical dwellings for a Sri Lankan community — simple structure, natural ventilation and considered shared spaces.

This project was undertaken entirely pro-bono by IMARK RENDER as a contribution to a community housing initiative in Wariyapola, North Western Province. The design prioritises maximum dignity within minimal cost — a loadbearing masonry structure buildable with local labour and materials, organised around cross-ventilated open-plan living spaces and a shared community courtyard designed to foster neighbourly interaction. The proposal was submitted to a local NGO coordinating community development efforts.
