Walawwa — The Traditional Residence

A contemporary Sri Lankan residence resolved across exterior form, interior detail and landscape setting — drawing on the walawwa tradition of the ancient manor house.

IMARK RENDER was engaged by MAARAA Architects to deliver the complete visualization suite for this residence in Yakkala, designed to evoke the character of the traditional Sri Lankan walawwa — the historic manor house typology of the Kandyan aristocracy — through contemporary means. The renders covered exterior massing in all lighting conditions, fully furnished interior perspectives and a landscape sequence showing the relationship between the main house, the garden pavilion and the perimeter planting.
