Personalised Grand Chalet

An alpine chalet reworked for a single family — solid larch, blackened steel detailing and panoramic openings to the valley.

A Sri Lankan family with a deep appreciation for European alpine architecture commissioned IMARK RENDER to design their countryside retreat in Alawwa, interpreting the chalet typology for a tropical context. The result retains the massive timber construction and steeply pitched roof of the alpine original while opening the interior dramatically toward the surrounding valley through full-height glazed gable ends.
