A Home Restyled Before the Baby Arrives

The clients for RK Residence are a young couple based in Luxembourg, both working in finance, who came to IMARK RENDER expecting their first child. They didn't want a renovation — no walls coming down, no months of construction dust — they wanted their existing apartment in Dudelange to finally feel like the home they were about to raise a family in.

The brief was additive by design: every one of the twelve rooms would be restyled, but nothing structural would change. We built a single palette — sage green, warm terracotta, natural wood and woven textures — and let it carry consistently from room to room, so the apartment would read as one considered home rather than twelve separate design exercises.

The most personal part of the brief sat upstairs. The master bedroom needed to work for the first months with a newborn, so we designed it around a softly botanical wallpaper and space for a cot right beside the bed. Down the hall, a dedicated nursery was finished in blush pink and warm oak — floral wallpaper, a reading nook, open shelving for the toys and books that were already arriving before the room was even done.

The rest of the apartment got the same level of care as the two hero rooms. The open living and dining area became the sociable centre of the home — a rounded sectional, a rattan pendant, a terracotta accent wall behind the dining table — while the kitchen was warmed up with open shelving, house plants and personal touches that made it feel less like a showroom and more like somewhere the couple actually wanted to cook. Even the corridors and storage spaces were treated as part of the same story, not left over.

Because nothing structural changed, the couple could keep living in the apartment throughout — and had a finished, coherent home waiting for them well before their due date. RK Residence is a reminder that a full transformation doesn't always require construction; sometimes it just requires every room to finally agree with each other.
